Save Energy!!

Stop, Drop, and Save Energy!  Don't leave your device in the charger when it's done charging.  To remind yourself to unplug your device, you could write a note that says "take me out" or set a timer.  Turn off your light when you're not in the room and are done using them.  Turn off the water when you're brushing your teeth!  Take shorter showers.  Don't leave your computers and TVs turned on.  Power them off when you're not using them.  These ideas will help you save energy, save money, and think GREEN!   ~Kyra and Reegan

Lights Off!!

We can reduce energy...turn light bulbs off!  Change them to compact fluorescent light bulbs.  You can save 75% of energy by turning light bulbs off when you're not using them.  You will save $30 per bulb if you switch to compact fluorescent bulbs.    ~By Matthew and Justin 

TWO Harp Seals Adopted!

We raised over $200 for our Adopt an Animal Campaign! Because of this we were able to "adopt" two harp seals from the National Wildlife Federation! Awesome Job, Hutchings! :)

Phone Book Recycling Pics

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!!

Green Club has been off to a fantastic start!! We just finished our phone book drive and our school collected thousands of phone books for Recycle Livingston!

We are working on our Adopt An Animal project. We'll have a stuffed animal day in January. The money raised will go towards adopting an animal for Green Club. Last year we adopted a Polar Bear. Stay tuned to find out what this year's animal will be! :)

Pizza Party

To celebrate all of our hard work, we will be having a pizza party during our last Green Club meeting on May 26th. We will eat during regular lunch times. The cost of the pizza party will be compliments of Mr. Clay. Thank you, Mr. Clay! Drinks will also be provided.

Summer Fun!

Here are a few fun "green" places to visit and things to do this summer:

• Create fun projects with materials from Arts and Scraps


• Visit your public library for free books and movies to borrow


• Bike or hike at Brighton Recreation Area


• Enjoy the butterflies and beautiful gardens at MSU Horticultural Gardens and Butterfly House or Cranbrook House and Gardens or U of M Botanical Gardens


• Stop by the Howell Nature Center to see the animals


• Bike, play, visit the farm, have a picnic and enjoy Kensington Metropark Island Lake Recreation Area


• Find a Geocache with your family.


• Play croquet or kickball in the backyard


• Enjoy shopping, eating, movies, farmer's market, festivals and concerts in Downtown Howell


• Stay cool with squirt guns, sprinklers, and water balloons


• Pitch a tent and go camping...even in your backyard


• Jump into one of Michigan's beautiful lakes!


• Watch fire flies...try to catch one in your hands


• Have a picnic


• Visit Downtown Brighton to play at the park, enjoy the Millpond, or relax and listen to a free summer concert


• Clear out clutter and have a yard sale


• Go on a bike ride or hike


• Have a sleepover with friends


• Enjoy a nap in a hammock


• Go fishing


• Learn a foreign language


• Plant a garden


• Go canoeing


• Fly a kite


• Play a game of freeze tag


• Build a tree house


• Have fun with your family! :)
